Elon Musk Says Dogecoin Should Be “More Currency-Like,” Responds to Billy Markus on Crypto’s Future

The Dogecoin DOGE/USD was created in 2013 by Jackson Palmer and Billy Marcus as a joke based on a popular meme depicting a Shiba Inu.
Cryptocurrency gained great popularity after Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO Elon Muskendorsement of the meme coin as his favorite cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin has given way to more meme coins such as shiba inus SHIB/USD, Dogelon Mars ELON/EURand Floki Inu FLOKI/EURand much more.
In a recent tweet, Markus, who goes by the handle Shibetoshi Nakamoto on Twitter, explained how he would like the Dogecoin community to use crypto.
here is my wish for dogecoin:
– people actually use it for more than pumping and dumping bullshit, so it has a reason to exist
– the community understands what crypto is and what the crypto market is and knows it’s all kinda dumb and have fun with it
It is more or less that

Markus also urged people to keep working on the meme piece, adding more utility and security. Elon Musk responded, suggesting that Dogecoin should function more like a currency.

Last month, Markus spoke about Dogecoin and said he created DOGE as a “satire” to show “how many stupid coins exist”.
$doge: made 8 years ago as a satire of the cryptocurrency scene and how many dumb coins exist, at a time when the scene was taking itself very seriously. became popular despite this. the founders did almost nothing.
the current “meme” pieces: made to enrich the founders.
we are not the same.
